Britain's Canals and Rivers really are something quite special. You can hire a narrowboat or barge and explore Britain's unique network, visiting the many places of interest which can be found near our waterways.
In the 200 years since they were built the waterways have hardly changed. The slow, steady pace of the boat, the surroundings, locks, steps, bridges, wharves, tunnels, towpaths and of course the many old Canalside Inns all are much the same as they were in the Regency and Victorian days. Then the holiday becomes a voyage of discovery, where you can enjoy the picturesque countryside through which our waterways flow.
What better way to do this than take an extended break with us on one of our boats from one month up to nine months.
About Us
We have spent most of our life around the waterways of England and Wales having grown up in a boatyard and then going on to run our own businesses.
Steph and I have operated Hotel Boats on the River Thames, later Passenger Boats in Wales on the Pontcysyllte World Heritage site. We are now settled in Northamptonshire with our young family where we operate a small hire fleet.
We have always prided ourselves on providing an exceptionally high level of customer service along with highly maintained reliable boats. We are well placed to provide you with the extended holiday experience to remember.
Your first time?
As a novice you will be surprised at how easy it is to skipper the boat. We give you full practical instruction, including both steering and working the locks. We have no set time for this and we won't leave you until you are confident of how to handle the boat. We also give you an instruction video to watch before arrival and there is a link below to this.
We are a member of the British Marine Federation so you can be confident that we comply with all the current legislation concerning narrowboat and barge hire, also as part of this we are externally audited on the standard of our Hand Over procedures. The boats cannot be used for static accommodation in one area for use as accommodation for living and working.
